Outside the window, you see something you can\u2019t believe<\/strong><\/em> – 15 minute freewrite prompt <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You look out the window and can\u2019t believe your eyes. Is it really\nhappening? The sun? The sun is shining?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You want to burst out the door and throw yourself into the sun\u2019s\nrays until you remember that the temperature is still cold. But what a shock to\nsee it all the same, after all this time \u2013 early, it\u2019s early. And it really\nshouldn\u2019t be here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun doesn\u2019t lie, though. When it\u2019s out, everyone knows it. Your\nneighbors are venturing out their front doors and into the light, holding their\nhands out, palms up, faces beaming at the giant orb above them. You want to\njoin them, but you hold back, watching as more and more people gather in the\nstreet, marveling and wondering aloud how it came back.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t know how this happened. \nYou weren\u2019t supposed to have sun for another six weeks under your\nagreement with the Heavenly Orbs department which ensures that all orbs (planets,\nprimarily, but stars, too) rotate equally throughout the sky for every community.\nIt\u2019s been that way for generations, since the Masters first decoded the\nmovement of the orbs and enlightened the heavens by re-coding planetary\nrotation and ensuring equal access to all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the sun is back too early. Have the Masters caused this? Was\nthe sunshine quota lopsided? Are they attempting to level the playing field?\nThe thought that maybe this wasn\u2019t predetermined flits through your mind, but\nyou calm yourself knowing that the Masters have been directing the Heavenly\nOrbs department for decades now with no problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From your doorway, you see the street growing full of bodies. A\ncrowd is gathering at the Heavenly Orbs office. Despite some neighbors reveling\nin the sunshine, others are demanding answers and asking, perhaps, if this will\naffect their summer or spring allotment, when they have designated times to\nplant their crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are not a farmer but a bookkeeper. Sighing, you wonder if this\nmonth\u2019s simulation bill has been paid. Perhaps not. Perhaps the Masters are\ndemonstrating their displeasure. It\u2019s tempting to revel in the sunshine, but\nyou know that heads will roll. Maybe even yours.
