A Very Full Life
Origins
A third-generation Californian, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. The children of educators, my brother, sister and I traveled each summer with our parents in a small motorhome, fostering a lifelong love of travel and road trips. I attended university at UC Davis and, after graduating, I left California to join the Peace Corps in Mali and never looked back.
Life on the Move
A child who lived in the same house for 20 years, I am an adult who has not stayed still. I have made my home in four countries and four US states, at one point moving 7 times in 10 years. Now no longer a vagabond, I am firmly fixed in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, and uproot myself only for short periods of time in the mountains with a backpack.

Why I Write
I write to create new worlds. I write to be read. I write to make myself laugh. I write to make others laugh. I write to record what happened. I write to process what happened. I write because there are things I want to say. I write to give a voice to those who don't speak. I write to keep my heart full. I write because it is all I have ever really wanted to do.
